Who is speaking.

In BibleLectio’s King James Version every speaker has a colour of their own, the whole way through the Bible. God and Jesus are in gold and angels in blue, and the names of the ones speaking stand at the top of each chapter.

How it works.

  1. Open Settings. The gear, then Voices.
  2. Turn on God, Voices or both.God puts God and Jesus in gold; Voices colours everyone else.
  3. Read. Each speech is in its speaker’s colour, their names at the top of the chapter.

What it does.

  • God and Jesus in goldThe God switch puts God’s words and Jesus’s in gold, as a red letter Bible puts Jesus’s in red. Jesus’s words are gold in every Bible of the app but the Hebrew.
  • Everyone else in their colourThe Voices switch gives everyone else who speaks in the King James a colour of their own, and the angels blue. Each person keeps one colour for the whole Bible.
  • Names at the topThe ones speaking in a chapter stand at its top, each in their colour. Tap a name to make their words plain.
  • Words passed onMoses, David and Isaiah have colours of their own, and their words said by someone else show in a softer shade.
  • Where it comes fromWho speaks comes from Clear Bible’s MACULA speaker quotations (CC BY 4.0) and SIL’s Glyssen character list (MIT). About one speech in twenty, mostly prayers, has no name and stays plain.

Questions about who is speaking.

Is there a Bible app that shows who is speaking?

Yes. BibleLectio colours its King James Version by who is speaking: every speaker has a colour of their own the whole way through the Bible, God and Jesus in gold and angels in blue.

Is BibleLectio a red letter Bible?

It can be one in gold. BibleLectio’s God switch puts Jesus’s words in gold, where a red letter Bible puts them in red, and God’s words in the King James in gold too.

Can I turn the colours off?

Yes. In BibleLectio’s settings, Voices has two switches, God and Voices; turn one off and those words are plain again. A tap on a name at the top of a chapter makes only that person’s words plain.

Which Bible shows every speaker in colour?

In BibleLectio, the King James Version: every speaker in a colour of their own. Jesus’s words in gold are in every Bible of the app but the Hebrew.
